Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are less visible on your teeth than metal braces. For this reason, ceramic braces are used mainly on older teenagers and adult patients who have cosmetic concerns. While they are visually less prominent, they do require more attention to oral hygiene as ceramic braces are larger and are more brittle than their metal counterparts.

Orthognathic surgery involves a wide variety of surgical procedures performed to place the teeth, jawbones, and other associated hard and soft tissue structures into their best anatomical positions. Surgery along with braces is an option in some cases, but is usually reserved for more severe problems like very large overbites and underbites, severe open bites, and facial or jaw asymmetries. Correction of these abnormalities generally results in improvement in function such as chewing, speaking, and breathing, and often enhances facial aesthetics.
